Welcome to this site. I'm Chad Moffitt, a counsellor based in Wellington, New Zealand. I am in the counselling field because I would like to do some good for people if I can. I approach counselling in a straightforward, simple and respectful way, and in a way that is in full consultation with you.
Counselling is not about anything being wrong or about diagnosing a problem, it's really just a couple of people having a kōrero. People have been consulting with each other ever since humans have had the ability to speak; historically it might have been talking with a relative, church leader, a wise elder in the village etc.
People choose to see a counsellor for a variety of reasons. Perhaps something is having unwelcome effects on their lives such as anxiety; depression; loss or other things. It could be wanting to interact or communicate differently with other people, or just having a trusted person to braindump or download with. When people come to see me, my goal is to meet them wherever they're at in terms of their personal tikanga, culture, beliefs and everything that makes them a unique person.I believe it's important that you fit with a counsellor or helper. If you would like a quick digital meet-up (via zoom/skype etc.) to get a sense of what I'm like, feel free to get in touch and we can arrange that.
Sessions with me are up to an hour and are currently $120. I am meeting with people face to face in downtown Wellington, and also digitally.
For people holding a Community Services Card, I'm able to offer up to 5 sessions at a discounted rate. If that's the case for you please get in touch so we can discuss details (there's no obligation to commit to any sessions).
I am a registered member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (provisional member).
This website is fairly simple; you will find a few useful links, some resources and strange amusements, and also contact information if you want to get in touch.
If you'd like to ask anything about myself or counselling in general please feel free to reach out. There's no obligation whatsoever to start counselling with me, and I'm happy to recommend other people / services.
